PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia is negotiating with Russia on the reconstruction of the Ijevan and Akhuryan railway segments, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure David Khudatyan said during a press briefing, reaffirming earlier remarks by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

"Our understanding is that the work on these sections will be carried out jointly with the Russian side, through them," Khudatyan stated.

On January 15, Prime Minister Pashinyan had said that the Armenian government expects Russia to respond promptly regarding the restoration of several long-dormant railway links connecting Armenia to Azerbaijan and Turkey-specifically the Ijevan, Yeraskh, and Akhuryan sections, which have not been operational since the late 1980s.

The government has emphasized the need for a swift Russian response, and the topic was discussed during the December 22, 2025, meeting between Pashinyan and President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg.

Earlier, it was revealed that Armenian and Azerbaijani representatives had jointly inspected the Yeraskh-Sadarak railway line to assess its technical condition.
