ALMATY, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- Kazakhstan's economy expanded by over 6 percent in 2025, pushing the nation's GDP above 300 billion U.S. dollars for the first time, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said Monday.

The country's GDP per capita exceeded 15,000 dollars, Tokayev said in an interview published on the official website of the Kazakh president.

Discussing Kazakhstan's foreign policy and diplomatic activities in 2025, Tokayev said that documents worth more than 70 billion dollars were signed over the past year. Behind every negotiation are key issues of economic and investment cooperation, as well as interaction on the global stage, he noted.

"Located at the very heart of Eurasia, Kazakhstan should not remain a bystander, especially in these turbulent times. We must have our own viewpoint and a balanced position on key issues of international relations," the Kazakh president said.
