KABUL, May 5 (Xinhua) -- A total of 365 new COVID-19 positive cases have been registered in Afghanistan over the past 24 hours, bringing the tally to 61,162 in the country, the Ministry of Public Health said in a statement on Wednesday.

According to the statement, 10 patients have died due to the disease over the period, totaling the number of COVID-19 related deaths to 2,664 since the outbreak of the disease in February last year.

A total of 56 patients have recovered over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of those recovered to 53,750 in Afghanistan, the statement added.

The statement warned Afghan citizens to respect and follow the immunity measures taken by the public health ministry and wear masks in public buses and crowded areas.
