ULAN BATOR, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia has reported 30 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing its total tally to 2,831, the National Center for Communicable Diseases said Friday.

"A total of 9,927 tests for COVID-19 were conducted across the country yesterday and 30 of them were positive," Amarjargal Ambaselmaa, head of the surveillance department of the center, said during a daily press conference.

The latest cases were locally transmitted and detected in the country's capital Ulan Bator, said Ambaselmaa.

Meanwhile, 53 more COVID-19 patients have recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,150, she added.

The disease has claimed six lives in Mongolia since it confirmed its first case in March last year.

So far, more than 1.7 million COVID-19 tests have been conducted across the country, which has a population of 3.3 million, according to the center.
