BEIJING, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

SEOUL -- South Korea reported 119 more cases of the COVID-19 as of 0:00 a.m. Monday local time compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 25,955.

The daily caseload rose above 100 in three days due to small cluster infections in Seoul and its surrounding Gyeonggi province as well as imported cases.

BEIJING -- The Chinese mainland reported 20 new imported COVID-19 cases Sunday, bringing the total number of imported cases to 3,248, the National Health Commission said Monday.

Of the new imported cases, 11 were reported in Shanghai, two each in Inner Mongolia and Shaanxi, and one each in Hebei, Shanxi, Fujian, Guangdong and Sichuan, the commission said in its daily report.

TRIPOLI -- The World Health Organization (WHO) said Sunday it has provided Sabha, the largest southern Libyan city, with medical supplies needed in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

"WHO Libya continues its support to health facilities across the country. Today, WHO dispatched PPE (personal protective equipment) and oxygen concentrators to the health facilities involved in COVID-19 response in Sabha," WHO tweeted Sunday.

QUITO -- Mayor of Ecuador's capital Quito, Jorge Yunda, said Sunday that he will quarantine himself "as the regulation requires" after testing positive for COVID-19.

"The activities we carry out expose us more to the virus, and although we take every measure, I want to inform you that I tested positive in my last test," Yunda tweeted.

PARIS -- France registered 52,010 new cases of COVID-19 infection in a 24-hour span, a new daily record after a record 45,422 on Saturday, according to the Public Health Agency on Sunday.

France now has a cumulative number of 1,138,507 coronavirus cases since the start of the epidemic. A further 116 patients died from the disease in the 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 34,761.
