Mitsubishi Motors preparing to cut back

Mitsubishi Motors in Japan has signaled a downsizing operation.
The company is believed to be preparing to cut some 900 more jobs to cope with a slump in demand for cars.
Japan's fourth largest automaker will not renew contracts for selected temporary workers at a factory in Kurashiki in western Japan.
Factory officials have said personnel transfers and other measures will minimise the size of the retrenchments.
Japanese carmakers have expanded rapidly in recent years to meet demand for their vehicles, but the deterioration in the global economy has taken a sudden toll on their exports. Email this story to a friend
