Taliban members routed in US bomb search

US and other coalition forces have killed 32 armed Taliban insurgents east of the Afghan capital, Kabul.

The operation took place on Tuesday in Alishing district in Laghman province, where coalition forces disrupted a roadside bomb making operation.

US officials said one suspected militant had been detained and two large caches of weapons and explosives destroyed.

During the operation, there was shooting from rooftops and alleyways.

Militants engaged coalition forces with gunfire but succumbed to the greater firepower before fleeing.

US forces later conducted area searches and found caches of weapons and explosives.
