Ukraine gas chief to meet Russians

Azerbaijan News.Net
Tuesday 6th January, 2009

The head of the Ukraine gas company Naftogaz intends going to Moscow on Thursday to negotiate the gas dispute with Russia.

The Russian state company Gazprom has welcomed the initiative which has also caused some surrounding countries to be affected.

Ukraine's direct neighbours have been receiving little gas, with supplies to Germany, France, Italy and Greece already falling back.

Gazprom says it has lowered the amount of gas pumped through Ukraine because Kiev is tapping gas for its own use.
