North Korea sacks nine ministers
Azerbaijan News.Net Tuesday 6th January, 2009
Nine cabinet ministers have been purged from the North Korean Cabinet.
Pyongyang has replaced the finance, trade, and commerce ministers, amongst others.
The sacking of the ministers is believed to be part of a campaign to help revive the country’s poor economy.
Events in the communist north are closely monitored by South Korea, which says
the stagnant neighbouring economy has come about after crippling energy shortages and sanctions put in place because of its nuclear weapons program.
