A massive manhunt is underway in central China, with police searching for a suspected mass killer.

Chinese media has reported that police have discovered eight bodies, including a 2-year-old boy and his grandmother.

Their fatal wounds suggest the killer had been armed with an axe.

Police in Hubei believe they know the culprit and have offered a reward for information leading to the arrest of Xiong Zhenlin, a 32-year-old junkyard owner.

Six of the bodies were discovered in Xiong's junkyard.

The six, aged between 45 to 69, had all been his employees.

Xiong's went missing on Monday, creating alarm amongst police officials who immediately put 200 police on the case to catch him.
