PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijan Railways Closed Joint-Stock Company (ADY) is continuing construction of a new railway line in the territory of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic.
Within the framework of the project, 10 stations along a 194.1-kilometer main line are to be modernized, and 814 engineering structures will be built, including 29 bridges, 4 tunnels and 12 overpasses, Caliber.az reports.
The first phase of design and construction work, launched at the end of last year, covered Salammalik, Ordubad, Azna and Julfa.
"The railway line, connected to the Zangezur corridor, will ensure direct land communication between the main territory of Azerbaijan and the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, as well as open access to the markets of Turkey, Armenia and European countries. The project is considered an important component of the Middle Corridor and part of a new regional transport system that will be integrated into the TRIPP route in the Ordubad district near the Armenian border," the statement said.
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington confirmed a document on Armenia-U.S. joint work within the framework of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) program.
The published document on the implementation of TRIPP describes the procedure for launching the initiative. The framework does not create and is not intended to create legal commitments or obligations for Armenia or the United States.
