PanARMENIAN.Net - Head of Armenia's Market Surveillance Inspectorate Armen Kotolyan said today that the gasoline imported from Azerbaijan fully complies with the technical standards of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
"We contacted the National Body for Standards and Metrology, which informed us that they had taken samples and conducted laboratory analysis. The entire batch of fuel from Azerbaijan met EAEU requirements," Kotolyan told reporters, as reported by Aysor.am .
He added that the inspectorate itself does not conduct inspections at the border when goods enter Armenia.
On December 19, a train carrying 22 wagons of gasoline from Azerbaijan's SOCAR entered Armenia, followed by two more shipments.
Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan previously commented on the imports, stating: "As far as I understand, the purchase of gasoline is very beneficial for Armenian citizens. I saw boycott calls, but I also heard there were queues for that fuel."
Asked why Azerbaijan is supplying Armenia with cheap fuel, Mirzoyan replied: "Because peace has been established, cooperation must be built, and Azerbaijani and Turkish cargo must pass through our territory, just as ours must pass through theirs."
