PanARMENIAN.Net - U.S. President Donald Trump stated during his speech at the Peace Council charter signing ceremony, held within the World Economic Forum in Davos, that the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan have become his friends.
"Today the world is wealthier, safer, and much more peaceful than a year ago. We extinguished all those fires. Many of us, including myself, didn't even know that some wars were still going on-one had lasted 32 years, another 35, another 37. We were especially pleased to stop the conflict between India and Pakistan, two nuclear powers. In just nine months of my presidency, I ended nine wars, including in Cambodia and Thailand. Many of their leaders are here today. Armenia and Azerbaijan too. Many of these leaders have become my friends-they are here," he said, according to Trend.
President Trump also signed the Peace Council charter, formally announcing the council's establishment. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who also signed the document, were present at the ceremony.
On August 8, Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a joint declaration at the White House reflecting the outcomes of their trilateral meeting.
During the same visit, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, in the presence of the national leaders, preliminarily signed the "Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan."
