PanARMENIAN.Net - During a government Q&A session in the National Assembly, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Armenia and Azerbaijan's energy systems will be interconnected. His response came to a question from opposition MP Artur Khachatryan, Armenpress reports.
"Absolutely and unquestionably, Armenia's and Azerbaijan's power grids will be connected, and both sides will benefit under equal terms-both for imports and exports," Pashinyan said.
He added that Armenia has already begun reaping some mutual benefits, including a 20% drop in gasoline prices, according to Aysor.am .
The prime minister emphasized that import of certain goods has already begun, demonstrating the practical implementation of cooperation.
"Wheat is being imported to Armenia-isn't that a mutual advantage? In Azerbaijan, they're watching and wondering whether anyone in the Armenian parliament will notice that we've already received part of the benefit," he noted.
According to Pashinyan, Azerbaijani officials claim they have already provided transit corridors through their territory to Armenia.
Earlier, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio signed a document in Washington on Armenia-U.S. cooperation under the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity" (TRIPP) initiative. The published TRIPP document outlines its operational framework and does not create any legal commitments for either country.
