PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia will soon begin importing Russian liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) through Azerbaijan. This was announced by Ministry of Economy spokesperson Lilit Shaboyan, according to Auroranews.
Shaboyan explained that current supply issues are linked to logistical difficulties, particularly obstacles at the Upper Lars checkpoint. Armenia's existing LPG import routes primarily pass through Russia and Iran, but disruptions have reduced the volumes imported.
The Ministry stated that in the near future, Russian LPG could be transported to Armenia by rail via Azerbaijan, providing a new alternative route.
Earlier, Gegham Gevorgyan, head of the Competition Protection Commission, addressed concerns about LPG price increases, calling it a typical seasonal trend seen every December. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan assured at a government session that by December 2026, LPG price issues will be resolved.
